Shed and Fence Completed!!

Hope your weekend has been going well.  Ours has been really great.  Last night I had a little date night out with the hubby.  Date nights have become almost obsolete in the past several months, so we are trying to make sure we get a little evening out here and there.  We ate at a great little Mexican Restaurant and went and watched Olympus Has Fallen.   Loved that movie!  Well at least I did in the end when I knew how it turned out.   So that covers my Saturday and then this morning, I got up WAY too early for a Sunday and headed over to my mum's house to pick her up for the Grand Opening of the new Homegoods in our area.

They had a soft opening on Friday evening that we went too and it was AWESOME!   I got all sorts of good stuff on that trip.  New bar stools, new lamps and chairs for the office, and some fun green and white pillows that makes it feel a little more like Spring around here.

So since Spring is here officially, I thought I would give you a little update on our fence and shed project.  You can see the previous posts on the building of the fence and shed here, here, here, here, and here.

This is one of those projects that took quite a while.   I think possibly because it kept getting pushed back due to the weather but mostly our schedules over the summer.  So here is the way past due finishedISH shed and fence...

I really wanted to just have the shed be an extension of the house with the color combo.  Kinda like a mini me version.

We still need to trim out the door with an x, put the horizontal black wood pieces across the shutters, and make a flower box for the window.

You can see the before post here.

Here is the fence before we painted and put the gate on the back...

And the shed before it was all trimmed out and painted...

And again here is the After...

We did a little searching around to decide the style of fence we wanted and both of us liked the quaintness of and price that comes with a 4 foot white picket fence.  We decided to add the chunkier sized base posts and larger cap.

Now that I just finished this post it is sleeting and freezing cold outside, not at all like it looks in these pics ;-)

Have a great rest of the weekend and don't miss my next few posts on a Nautical Guest Room Design and a Pottery Inspired Family Room!

Fence Painting

We are so excited to be nearly done with the outside projects that we began, well, FOREVER ago.  We always think a project is going to be quick and then we are months into stuff and wonder where the time went.  The shed and fence project began in the early part of summer and is now nearing completion.

For the fence, we went with a white wood stain.  Dustin did the spraying and I went behind and rolled any heavier spots.  It worked great and didn't take long at all, but since we had family come over, we where only able to get the inside and outside of the left side of the fence.  So you know what we are doing today instead of sitting on the couch and watching House Flippers on TV.

Probably would have been a good idea to put on a mask or at least close his mouth while spraying, lol.

This is a closer shot of the first coat where you can still see the wood grain quite a bit.  I took of the excess paint with the roller and used that to roller the tops of the pickets so that I didn't have too much paint on my roller.

It's funny how the white actually makes the fence feel even more weightier.  I'm pretty darn sure that's not correct English, but you get what I mean right?

Below is a picture when we where working on the fence...

And here is the near after shot.  Seriously weightier!!!  Lol

Fence and Shed Update

I hope everyone is having a great week!  We are working hard to finish up some big and little projects around here.  The big projects are the fence and shed and they are more than half way finished.  Want a little peak?

This is a shot of Dustin putting together his string line to keep all of the pickets in order.  I really like the post caps!

What do you think of the 6 x 6 posts?  I think they give a really nice weighted feel to the fence.  I was concerned that we had gone to big when we drew it out, but now seeing it in person, I am completely happy with it.

I have a lot of step by steps for the shed that I will show in up coming posts, but for now, I  want to show you some of the pictures of the process.  We were deciding in this shot where the window was going and at what height we were going to put it.  My niece thinks this is the perfect height :)

We now have Dustin's dream shed nearly completed.  What's left to do on the shed?  Let's see

List of Shed To Do's
Paint (To match the house)
Doors
Trim Work
DIY Shutters
DIY window box for flowers

And as far as the fence goes, we are looking about another 3 days of work or so ;-)  Ahh, I can hardly contain myself!!!  I definitely got overly excited when I came home the other day and saw that Dustin had picked up this bad boy...

That's what I am talking about.  So I told him that I couldn't wait to spray the shed and fence.  To which he told me, "that's nice sweety, but I got this."  When I answered with a big WHAT?  He said, " yep, cause you have to read the directions on the sprayer."  Is he kidding me?  This coming from the guy who won't ask for directions!  But have no fears, I will spray something! Not sure what yet, but I will find something, mwahaha!
